Cookie Policy

This policy explains the cookies owen-lewis.com uses and how you control them. A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser, used here only to make the site work and, if you agree, to measure how it is used.

We keep this deliberately simple: a couple of essential cookies, optional analytics, and nothing else. No advertising cookies, no third-party trackers, no selling of data.

Your Choice Comes First

When you first visit, a banner asks whether you are happy for us to use analytics. Until you choose, nothing beyond the essential cookies below is set. You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer, or by clearing cookies in your browser.

Essential Cookies (always On)

These make the site function and cannot be switched off. They do not track you and are not used for analytics or advertising.

  • WordPress session and settings (for example wordpress_*, wp-settings-*, PHPSESSID) — set only when needed, such as submitting a form or signing in, to keep the page working as you move through it.
  • Your cookie choice — one cookie that remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics, so we do not ask again on every visit.

Analytics Cookies (only If You Agree)

If you accept analytics, we use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how people find and use the site, so we can improve it. These are set only after you agree, and never before.

  • _ga, _ga_* — Google Analytics. Distinguish one visitor from another so visits can be counted, without identifying you personally. These last up to two years.

We have IP anonymisation and Google’s Consent Mode in place, so if you decline, Google receives no analytics cookies and no identifiable data from your visit. If you accept and later change your mind, the Cookie settings link turns them straight back off.

What We Do Not Use

No advertising or retargeting cookies, no social-media trackers, no chat widgets, and no fingerprinting. If that ever changes, this page and the banner will change with it, and we will ask again.
